Position Description:

The Application Engineer position in Raleigh is a cross-functional support position for Quality Assurance, Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Purchasing, Inside and Outside Sales and Marketing, Product Engineering and Field Service. The Application Engineer will own or coordinate activities across all departments of the plant, including Quality Assurance Plan writing, B/M creation and verification, quotation creation, drawing approval The Application Engineer will become a technical expert in selection and sizing valve and actuator designs.


  • Research, selection of valves, actuators and their components to ensure proper components are identified based on customer request.

  • Actively participate in managing and executing task schedules to ensure timely completion of all assigned duties.

  • Review customer valve application requests.

  • Select and/or modify systems to meet the customer’s requirement while maintaining compliance with industry codes and standards.

  • Work with the Product Engineering Department to develop and analyze a design to meet the requirements imposed.

  • Specifies Code imposed quality requirements.

  • Review customer design specifications, select existing product to meet the customer’s requirements, ensuring availability and manufacturability of the materials used.

Position Requirements:

  • 0-5 years relevant industrial application engineering experience

  • BS degree in Engineering from an accredited university (ABET) preferably mechanical, however any ABET accredited BS degree can work

  • High mechanical aptitude

  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently with high degrees of self-management making decisions around priorities

  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbal and written, with colleagues and customers alike

  • Strong PC skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access strongly desired

  • Ability to work effectively individually and in group environment

  • Ability to follow through from start to finish assignments given, and support anytime thereafter

  • Ability to work extended hours in order to complete assigned tasks when necessary

  • A “Can Do” attitude with personal expectations of excellence

  • Willingness to go “the extra mile” to ensure customer satisfaction


  • Experience with following standardized practices

  • Project Management experience

  • Multilingual fluency

  • Professional Engineering Licensure (“Registered Professional Engineer” or ability to obtain within 2 to 4 years) already have successfully completed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam

  • Familiarity with 2D and 3D CAD systems • Familiarity with the ASME B&PV Code, ASME B16.34, and B31.1, preferred

  • Understanding of thermal and mechanical stress analysis; ability to understand the interactions of non-similar materials
