Purpose of the role will be to develop new and underperforming existing suppliers to drive both cost and strategic advantage (lead time, technology, core competency, etc) into the business.
The individual should be able to cross functionally evaluate a suppliers fit into our business needs, both current and future. Should be sound technically, proficient in quality management systems, and have LCC supplier experience.
Interface with RLG functional teams and global supply chain team members to communicate RLG needs and priorities.
Manage GSM relationship to ensure proper level of quantity of supplier options are put forth to satisfy need
Travel to suppliers to perform initial assessments and serve as font line POC during evaluation phasing.
Assesses capabilities to meets product, cost, quality, capacity, and delivery of product
Develop and execute APQP program onto selected suppliers (teach APQP as needed)
Partner with Quality to perform qualification audits
Partner with purchasing to issues sample PO according to APQP process
Coach/teach (or arrange) supplier on area of need based on assessments and sampling
Support Supplier scorecard program by educating suppliers on criteria and scores impact on future business
Work with Engineering on design related concerns or updates driven by supplier feedback
Ability to travel domestically and internationally 50% of the time.
Act as a Mentor to Supply Chain personnel
Utilize standardized assessment tools, identify opportunities of improvement in the operational areas of maintenance management, production control, materials planning, system analysis, productivity analysis and cost control, production planning, productivity, capacity planning and analysis, managing suppliers, machining and assembly, internal quality control, and other lean manufacturing principles.
Through continuous improvement measure the supply chain by gathering standardized leading indicator metrics that facilitate the ability to proactively address negative trends that may adversely affect delivery performance.
Assist the suppliers in the development of performance metrics, capacity plans, employee training matrices, milestone plans and project plans.
Develop, coach and mentor problem solving skills. Create problem solvers within the organization.
Participate and lead joint continuous improvement events.
Establish methods that identify and/or track root causes and provide corrective action.
Mentor Supply Chain Improvement Specialists III in this process.
Bachelors degree in Business Management, Operations or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
10 years combined Operational and/or Supply Chain experience to include proficiency with LEAN/Six Sigma tools and concepts.
APQP process knowledge required.
Manufacturing experience required.
Computer literate, capable of working within the various software applications utilized throughout the corporation, i.e., Microsoft Excel, Project, Word and PowerPoint.
Project management skills with working knowledge of the principles of analytical problem solving techniques.
Lean/Six Sigma certification in area of discipline preferred.
CQE (Certified Quality Engineer) certification preferred.
Masters degree in Business Administration preferred.
Industrial engineering experience preferred.
